Situation
Our client, a multinational high-end cosmetic product manufacturer, was facing diversion and counterfeit issues in his distribution markets with his top of the range beauty products.
Our mission was to propose a solution that cannot be removed without destroying the integrity of the plastic container and allows in addition to track and trace the product, i.e. the beauty creams.
Our Solution
Batches of our client’s product were misrouted and were found in unintended marketplaces (internet sales, different countries of intended sales…).
After analyzing the client’s issue and structuring the approach, we were able to propose a multi-level security solution, in collaboration with one of our partners.
The solution consisted of a nanostructure that is directly applied on the polymer surface – in this case: the cream container itself – during the molding process.
This technology is directly integrated in the material and allows the producer, as well as the distributor to:
- Trace the product and establish its trail during the production and distribution steps.
- Identify and authenticate the product and prevent counterfeiting.
Results
The solution provided would not only allow the client to trace and track his product batches across his production and delivery stages, but it would also allow him to add an extra-security level to prevent further counterfeit incidents.
